About me

Hi, I’m Glen Phillips—a lifelong athlete and dedicated fitness professional who believes that fitness is about more than just working out; it’s about creating a sustainable, balanced lifestyle that makes you happy and keeps you feeling your best.

I’ve been active my whole life, playing a variety of sports and exploring new ways to challenge myself physically. In high school, I discovered a passion for exercise and fitness that has driven me ever since. With parents who were both professors in Kinesiology and researchers in exercise science, I grew up surrounded by a deep respect for evidence-based practices and a constant curiosity for what truly works. That foundation taught me to value the best, most optimal ways to tailor fitness programs—always learning and adapting as new research emerges, to help clients live long, healthy lives.

During my undergrad, I earned a B.Sc (Honours) in Kinesiology, laying a strong foundation in exercise science and evidence-based practices. At the same time, I wrestled as a varsity athlete at McMaster University, gaining firsthand experience in how structured, science-based programming and a supportive environment can push you to achieve your best. This combination of academic knowledge and athletic experience laid the groundwork for my professional approach to coaching.

I also hold two personal training certifications—one from Canfitpro and another from the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP)—which have given me the tools to design effective, research-based programs tailored to each client’s needs. While working as a personal trainer at Crunch Fitness, I helped clients of all backgrounds discover what their bodies are capable of and develop a love for movement.

Beyond personal training, I spent four years as a varsity athletic therapist, supporting university-level sports teams and working alongside experienced coaches, strength trainers, and medical staff. I also volunteered in a physiotherapy clinic for two years, learning from physiotherapists and rehab professionals to better help clients recover and thrive.

Currently, I’m pursuing my MBA at McMaster’s DeGroote School of Business to broaden my skills and bring even more value to the clients I work with. My mission is to blend my lifelong passion for health and fitness with evidence-based methods—cutting through the confusion and conflicting advice to create programs that are truly effective and sustainable.
